For Sponsoring Organizations of Employer Plans

Helping sponsoring organizations fulfill their fiduciary obligations with confidence.

Organizations that sponsor retirement plans on behalf of multiple employers—such as associations, professional employer organizations (PEOs), chambers of commerce, affinity groups and others —face the same fiduciary responsibility under ERISA. These organizations must balance scale, consistency, and oversight while coordinating multiple service providers and serving the best interests of participating employers and plan participants.

GPS provides objective perspective designed specifically for organizations offering group plans. We bring structure, accountability, and clarity to complex plan arrangements—helping sponsoring organizations fulfill their fiduciary obligations with confidence.

GPS can serve sponsoring organizations in two —ways, depending on their needs and plan structure.

Consultant on Existing Plans

GPS acts as an independent consultant to sponsoring organizations that already work with recordkeepers, TPAs, advisors, and other vendors. In this role, we help:

  • Evaluate current service provider relationships and fee structures
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, and fiduciary accountability
  • Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and risk exposures
  • Support informed decision-making without disrupting existing partnerships

Our goal is to strengthen governance and oversight while preserving the flexibility of current arrangements.

Independent Fiduciary Oversight

Where appropriate, GPS can act as an independent fiduciary—providing objective oversight of plan operations and governance. In this capacity, we:

  • Help establish and maintain a prudent, documented fiduciary process
  • Monitor operational compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee service provider performance and contractual obligations
  • Reduce fiduciary exposure for the sponsoring organization

Because GPS is independent and does not sell investments or administrative services, our fiduciary role is free from conflicts—allowing sponsoring organizations to demonstrate loyalty and prudence under ERISA.
